KUCHING, Feb 16: Kg Sungai Maong here and Taman Univista in Kota Samarahan will be placed under the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO) from February 17 until March 2, according to the State Disaster Management Committee.

This is to facilitate active case detection (ACD) exercises at Kg Sungai Maong tomorrow (Feb 17) and Taman Univista which is currently ongoing.

SDMC today revealed the State Health Department has identified six new Covid-19 in Sarawak, of which the one in Kuching is known as the Kg Sungai Maong Cluster and one in Samarahan is called the Univista Cluster.

For the Kg Sungai Maong Cluster, the index case is Case 6,292 who was identified through symptomatic screening at a clinic in Kuching on Feb 11. The patient is a 38-year-old female who works as a security controller at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Following active contact tracing of her colleagues, another 17 Covid-19 cases were identified. All the patients were referred to SGH for further treatment.

A total of 50 individuals linked to the Kg Sungai Maong Cluster have been swabbed with 18 testing positive and 32 others awaiting laboratory test results. The rest tested negative.

The Univista Cluster has been identified as a community cluster encompassing three locations in Samarahan, namely Kg Muara Tuang, Taman Univista and Taman Samarax.

The index case of the cluster is Case 6,295, a 33-year-old satay seller who was identified through symptomatic screening on Feb 6.

Subsequently, active contact tracing at the three locations uncovered 44 Covid-19 cases.

As of noon today, a total of 184 individuals linked to the Univista Cluster have been swabbed, with 45 individuals testing positive, 96 individuals testing negative and 43 individuals awaiting test results. — DayakDaily
